Last Sunday Morning June 6th 2010, near the conclusion of a group ride in the state of Tennessee, an accident occurred, causing serious injury to Jeff Hindahl of Owensboro Kentucky, and fatally injuring his wife Krista Davis Hindahl.
The following information has been taken from the Nashville Tennesseean Newspaper.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Metro police said Krista Hindahl, 42, of Owensboro, Ky., was killed and two other people were taken to the hospital after a crash Sunday on Highway 100 near the Loveless Cafe. Officers said Hindahl was riding on a Harley Davidson motorcycle being driven by her husband, Jeffrey Hindahl, 49. The couple was headed eastbound on Highway 100 when the driver of a PT Cruiser, Shirley Tucker, 58, made a prohibited left-hand turn in front of them, according to investigators. Officers said the motorcycle crashed into the driver's side of the car, and both riders were thrown onto the roadway. Police said Krista Hindahl died at the scene, while Jeffrey was transported to Vanderbilt in stable condition. Tucker was transported to St. Thomas Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators said Tucker told them that as she exited Natchez Trace Parkway onto Highway 100, she slowed down to turn left into the Shell station at 8456 Highway 100. Police said it appears Tucker's failure to obey posted warning signs on the Natchez Trace Parkway exit ramp which state, "Left turns into driveways prohibited from ramp," contributed to the crash. Officers said the signs are there to prevent merging vehicles from abruptly stopping or turning in front of oncoming traffic, which is traveling at the posted speed limit of 50 mph. No charges have been filed in the wreck, however, police said their investigation is continuing.
Note there is no mention, of Helmets in this article. Please Let it be known that Jeff and Krista ALWAYS wore D.O.T. approved helmets.
